Banavilla was born out of a familiar California frustration. Spending summer afternoons between the surf in Laguna Beach and dinner in Malibu, I was constantly caught between two disappointing extremes:
High-end solid gold was too precious to risk losing in the Pacific breaks, while trendy fashion jewelry tarnished, flaked, or left embarrassing green marks on my skin after just a few dips in the ocean.
